NVMGMA Committees

Legislative Committee- The Legislative Committee works to represent the interests of the membership with regard to health policy. To that end, the Committee incorporates the use of a Core Group and Constituent Advocates to promote the policy positions of our membership. Individuals interested in participating in either the Core Group or as Constituent Advocates should make their interest known to the Legislative Liaison for involvement in the Committee’s activities.

CMPE-ACMPE Committee- Chair: Jackie Shoupe. The committee will work together to forward the education and commitment of individual NVMGMA members to further their knowledge base and attain certification or fellowship. The committee is composed of CMPE and ACMPE members who will act as mentors to a member wishing to advance their certification. The committee from time to time might put together study groups for the exams.

ACMPE Forum Representative- The ACMPE Forum Representative is responsible for coordinating activities and communication between NV MGMA and national MGMA. The Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) credential confirms expertise and brings greater recognition from physicians, executives, industry professionals and peers. Board certification and Fellowship through the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE)* is based on a body of knowledge specific to medical practice management and is the only board certification and fellowship designation in medical practice management. ACMPE is the certification and fellowship authority of MGMA and has been certifying medical practice executives since 1956.

Education/Speakers Committee- The goal of the education committee is to provide educational opportunities for the members based on the National MGMA core body of knowledge. The body of knowledge identifies the various knowledge and skills required of today’s medical practice executive based on the eight identified competencies. The committee responsibilities include surveying the members to determine their areas of interest and then seeking qualified individuals as speakers or educators. Speakers may be local talents from various business backgrounds or nationally recognized speakers. Goals include creating a working list of past speakers and topics, having the membership complete evaluations of speakers and help make recommendations to the State Meeting education committee. In addition, the education committee might suggest a budget for paid speakers for board approval.
