Primary Care Access and the Medicaid Expansion: Or How to Fit 10 Pounds of Beans in a 5 Pound Bag!

 

Nevada’s Medicaid expansion is an important step to improving the health status of hundreds of thousands of Nevadans.  However, primary care resources have not grown to meet the huge surge in demand.  Besides expansion plans by primary care practices, like Community Health Alliance, more needs to be done to expand access to care.  This presentation will focus on strategies to make the best use of limited resources including new delivery system models, outreach and care coordination, community health workers, and use of technology to further extend primary care services.
