HIPAA Survival Guide

Understanding your obligations under HIPAA is no simple matter. This presentation will give concrete guidelines you can use to implement HIPAA compliance in the real world of a busy medical practice. It will review basic concepts like what constitutes PHI, what measures must be taken to secure electronic PHI, and what disclosures and notices are required. It will also cover the newest concerns and trends, such as widespread data breaches, HHS audits, and business associate / subcontractor obligations in light of the HITECH Act. With penalties on the rise, now is the time to get serious about HIPAA compliance.
