Alan Olive, MPH, MHA, is CEO of Northern Nevada Sierra Medical Center (Sierra Medical Center), a new full-service hospital in Reno that just celebrated its first-year anniversary. Since opening the hospital has hired more than 600 employees, privileged with more than 500 physician community partners, birthed more than 700 babies, treated more than 13,000 ER patients. Sierra Medical Center has also opened new tertiary services such as CTOR, Oncology, and NICU Level ll services. Since he joined Northern Nevada Medical Center a decade ago, he has developed and grown it into a thriving health system that has changed the healthcare landscape in this region.
Born and raised in Reno, Olive has more than 30 years of healthcare leadership experience, specializing in integrated health systems, health plan partnerships, hospital operations, and physician relations.
He has served as CEO and executive roles for various health systems including Northern Nevada Medical Center, Renown Health, Providence Health and Services, based in Portland, Ore, and MountainView Hospital in Las Vegas, Nev.
Alan earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Brigham Young University and a Master of Public Health - Hospital Administration and Master of Healthcare Administration from Loma Linda University. He also served as a Post Graduate Fellow with Providence Health and Services.
Alan is/has served on community/professional boards including American Heart Association, Truckee Meadows Community College Foundation, Nevada Hospital Association and Northern Nevada Health System boards.
His priorities include family, outdoors, hiking and cycling in our beautiful region. He also enjoys gardening and is known as “The Olive Gardner”
